Spanish Unstuck
A mobile-first Spanish practice app built around active recall. Spanish Unstuck helps learners practise retrieving words and phrases they already know instead of simply recognising the right answer on screen.
Knowing a phrase is not the same as being able to say it
Recognising Spanish when it appears in a lesson or multiple-choice exercise is not the same as being able to produce it during a conversation. The difficult part is often retrieval: knowing that a phrase is familiar but not being able to bring it to mind quickly enough.
Spanish Unstuck grew from that practical problem. The aim was not to replace tutors, courses or other language-learning apps. It was to build a focused companion for practising recall and speaking.
From a learning problem to a working product
Active recall
Practice sessions ask the learner to retrieve the Spanish from an English prompt before relying on the answer, closer to the mental process needed in a real conversation.
Guided recall
When a phrase will not come to mind, staged support helps the learner work towards it rather than immediately revealing everything.
Structured practice
Content is organised by level and useful categories, allowing learners to practise vocabulary and phrases appropriate to their current stage.
Progress & accounts
Recall confidence, category progress and recent practice can be tracked over time through a personal account.
Product infrastructure
Atinamos also developed the access model, Stripe payment integration, Progressive Web App support and practical administration tools needed to operate the product.
Designed around the recall moment
The practice interface deliberately keeps the task simple: understand the English prompt, try to retrieve the Spanish, say it aloud and then compare the answer.
For difficult phrases, the Guided Recall flow introduces support in stages. The emphasis remains on the learner doing the retrieval rather than turning the exercise into another recognition test.
Because Spanish Unstuck is an Atinamos-owned product, the interface, phrase structure, progress model and supporting systems can continue to change as the learning experience is tested and refined.
